Wilderness First Aid Class- Open to All MS/HS students and parents

January 26th-27th, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Prepare for the unexpected in this hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine program taught by our partners at Venture Off If you work in a wilderness setting, enjoy outdoor activities or recreation opportunities, this 16-hour course is for you! Instruction will take place in classrooms and outdoor settings regardless of weather. Course completion results in a Wilderness First Aid certification.

This class is open to any upper school student or parent and after taking this class you will get a Wilderness First Aid Certification.

Take advantage of this great deal because this same class at REI costs $350/person and Venture Off offers it to us for only $125/person. We need a minimum of 20 participants for this class to make.

Creation Museum Field Trip- FREE

As always please come in blue jeans and your GCA polo. Also, please feel free to bring a snack or a picnic lunch.
 
Admission to the museum AND planetarium is FREE THIS YEAR!!! They have blessed us with this gift of no admission this time for Students, Parents/Chaperone and Teachers!

When to stay home due to illness? See our sick policy here

Parents, we try to spread love not germs, please keep your student home if they are showing signs of illness.  Students need to be:
  • fever free for 24 hours before returning to school
  • on antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school
  • no upset stomachs for at least 24 hours before returning to school
If you do keep your student home, please email attendance@gcafrisco.org to let us know and we will let their teacher know.

Feed my Starving Children- Food Packing Volunteer event

December 1, 2023  9:00 – 10:45 am

The whole school is invited to a Feed my Starving Children food-packing volunteer event this Christmas season! 

FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world.

Through volunteering at FMSC, you’ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shift. You’ll experience what it’s like to make a tangible difference today.

GCA Helping Hands Needs YOU!

We are in need of the following positions to be filled:
  • COPY helpers (school day hours, 1-2 hours per week) 
  • Before School Lobby Set Up (7-7:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, and/or Thursday) 
  • Family Ninja Challenge Fundraising and Race Committees
  • Family Picnic Helpers
 
 
We encourage all families to join Helping Hands by committing to volunteer for 6 hours or more each school year! 
We will have a thank you breakfast for all volunteers each spring!

Need help on your math homework? Come to Math Lab on Wednesdays!

Every Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. and 10-11 a.m. 

Starting Wednesday, August 23rd, any 6th-12th student is invited and encouraged to attend Math Lab with Mrs. Slaughter! This is an opportunity for students to support from a math teacher while working on their math homework.

Dress Code: Students please come in spirit wear, so jeans and a GCA Spirit Shirt

Where: Park and come in through the main entrance. Students please sign in and then you may go to the room “Plano” for math lab
