Texas Freedom Accounts Info

Understanding Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFAs)

As many families have asked about recent changes in Texas education policy, we want to share helpful information about Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFAs). These accounts are designed to give families greater flexibility and support in choosing the educational setting that best fits their child.

The attached FAQ sheet provides a clear overview of what TEFAs are, who may be eligible, how funds can be used, and important upcoming dates. Our goal is simply to keep our school community informed as we plan ahead together and continue partnering with families in the education and formation of their children

When to stay home due to illness? Read our sick policy here

Email attendance@gcafrisco.org for student absences.

Parents, we try to spread love not germs, please keep your student home if they are showing signs of illness.  Students need to be:
  • fever free for 24 hours before returning to school
  • on antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school
  • no upset stomachs for at least 24 hours before returning to school
If you do keep your student home, please email attendance@gcafrisco.org to let us know and we will let their teacher know.

Due Date for Work: Excused Absences Only

Students with excused absences of any length should turn in all work by the second class day back at school. Work that was due the first day that was missed is due immediately upon return to school. For example, if a student who attends class three days a week (M-T-Th) is absent Monday and returns to school Tuesday, the homework that was due on Monday is due the day they return: Tuesday. The homework due Tuesday is due Thursday.

In summary:

  • The work that was due the day that was missed is due the student’s first day back to school.
  • The work that was assigned while the student was absent (including in-class work) is due on the second day back, unless other arrangements are made with the teacher. Teachers may use their own discretion concerning make-up work due dates if there are special circumstances.

Muffins with Mom

Thursday, May 7th

We invite all GCA moms and students to join us for our Muffins with Mom event on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, from 7:30–8:00 a.m.

This special morning is open to all students in grades K–12, and we’ll have plenty of muffins for everyone — moms and students alike! All students will be included in this event even if their mom is unable to attend.

Join us for a short, intentional time to start the day right: enjoy breakfast together, connect with other moms, and be encouraged by a brief time of prayer and inspiration before heading off to class or work.

To help with morning traffic, please park in the spots furthest from the building. All moms and students may enter through the GCA lobby doors (normal drop-off location) and join us in the gym for this special time together.

Schedule:

7:30–8:00 a.m. – Muffins with Mom

7:40 a.m. – High School moms join students for Huddle Time

7:45 a.m. – High School students head to class

7:55 a.m. – Lower School moms join students for a time of prayer

8:00 a.m. – Lower School students head to class

We know your mornings are valuable — and we promise this one will be worth it. We can’t wait to see our campus filled with moms and students enjoying muffins, laughter, and meaningful moments together.  Please RSVP below.
