When to stay home due to illness? Read our sick policy here

Email attendance@gcafrisco.org for student absences.

Parents, we try to spread love not germs, please keep your student home if they are showing signs of illness.  Students need to be:
  • fever free for 24 hours before returning to school
  • on antibiotics for at least 24 hours before returning to school
  • no upset stomachs for at least 24 hours before returning to school
If you do keep your student home, please email attendance@gcafrisco.org to let us know and we will let their teacher know.

Due Date for Work: Excused Absences Only

Students with excused absences of any length should turn in all work by the second class day back at school. Work that was due the first day that was missed is due immediately upon return to school. For example, if a student who attends class three days a week (M-T-Th) is absent Monday and returns to school Tuesday, the homework that was due on Monday is due the day they return: Tuesday. The homework due Tuesday is due Thursday.

In summary:

  • The work that was due the day that was missed is due the student’s first day back to school.
  • The work that was assigned while the student was absent (including in-class work) is due on the second day back, unless other arrangements are made with the teacher. Teachers may use their own discretion concerning make-up work due dates if there are special circumstances.

Pre-ACT/ACT Testing

Wednesday, March 11th, 8am.

Please read all information below!

All GCA students in grades 9–12 will participate in PreACT/ACT testing on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. These assessments are required for all high school students.

  • 9th & 10th Grade: PreACT
This test provides a preview of the ACT and helps students understand their current readiness and areas for growth.

  • 11th & 12th Grade: ACT
The ACT is used for college admission and scholarship consideration. It also helps us evaluate and strengthen our academic program from year to year.

These assessments provide a strong measure of overall academic progress and help students identify areas for further study and improvement. While GCA administers the ACT once each year, students may also choose to test at other locations if they plan to take it multiple times.

Testing Day Details

  • Testing begins promptly at 8:00 AM

  • Students should arrive at their normal drop-off time (by 7:45am)

  • The day is dedicated to testing only

  • Students will be dismissed when they finish

  • Most students finish just before noon, though some may take longer

Please plan to be available for pick-up beginning around 12:00 PM.

Additional details and reminders will be sent as we get closer to testing day.

Thank you for your support as we help our students prepare for these important assessments.

Welcome to SCOIR

For all 9th-12th Students- more info at Advising & Icecream

Grace Covenant Academy is pleased to share that we’ve implemented a new College & Career Readiness platform called Scoir (pronounced “score”). This system will streamline the process of requesting, processing, sending, and tracking the electronic delivery of all application-related documents. More importantly, it’s a much more enjoyable way for students and parents to engage in the college search and selection process.

On Scoir, colleges come to life through pictures, videos, and links that highlight active student clubs and organizations. This better enables students to discover for and identify colleges and careers that are a good fit with their personal and academic interests, which increases college retention.

Scoir also provides parents and guardians with useful financial calculators so you can determine the likely cost of attendance at different colleges and consider affordability when deciding where to apply. These features, along with more convenient scheduling and communication tools for high school counselors, will help keep everyone informed and engaged throughout the college application process.

Scoir exists to help more students achieve more positive outcomes, and we’re excited that our students have access to this system and the college and career readiness opportunities it provides.
