The GCA national honor society will be sending out nominations for new students shortly! This student recognition program highlights students in 10th-12th grade.
How it will work?
Any students in 10th-12th grade who have a current 3.0 UGPA or higher will have the opportunity to submit a candidate information form to be considered for selection. The 5 member Faculty team will meet to select members of the National Honor Society. You will receive an email if you are academically eligible to join the National Honor Society.
When the 5 member faculty team has made their selections, they will notify students who have been selected to join the National Honor Society. Membership at the Induction ceremony, February 3rd after school is mandatory in order to be a part of the National Honor Society chapter at GCA.
List of Member Obligations:
Membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Our chapter has worked hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four ideals are considered as the basis for selection. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student—one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for selection are:
Scholarship: 3.0 cumulative average
Leadership, service, and character: as demonstrated by activities and teacher evaluations
Membership, however, is more than an honor. It is an ongoing responsibility and an obligation to continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that result in a student’s selection. Membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter.
In order to be a part of the Grace Covenant Academy National Honor Society chapter, you must complete these obligations:
- attend the quarterly meetings (third Thursday of every quarter from 7:15-7:40 a.m. to check in on academic progress/service projects
- complete at least 10 service hours in the 2022-2023 school year
- attend one of the group service projects
