Here at GCA our college/next-step advising starts in earnest in 8th grade and we invite all middle and high school students to their advising and ice-cream, grade level seminar to find out more about preparing for a student’s next steps including course selection, extracurricular involvement and the role of standardized testing in this process.
This Fall we met with each grade and went over some initial steps, but expect so much more at our spring meeting!
High School Seniors also have additional graduation planning meetings and individual advising meetings to help them find their best “fit” in terms of opportunities for academic, spiritual and social development.
Grade-level Seminars

- April 11th, 3:45-4:30 Rising 11th-12th (so current 10th and 11th graders) Advising and Icecream in Big D
- April 18th, 3:45-4:30 Rising 9th-10th (so current 8th and 9th graders) Advising and Icecream in Big D
- April 20th, 2:30-3:30 p.m. All middle and high school Co-Curricula Showcase in the gym! Parents are invited. Come to this fun event and hear about all your elective options and find where you fit best!
- April 25th, 3:45-4:30 Rising 6th grade (current 5th graders) advising and icecream/welcome to middle school!
- May 2nd, 3:45-4:30 Rising 7th and 8th grade advising and icecream
